June 2019: Last one...according to St. Louis Music, these stands are no longer being made.
When you're playing a show in an orchestra pit and and it's a mad race to the finish, you know how it goes: Straight! Open! Cup! Open! Harmon! Cup! Open! Plunger! Solotone! Now once more with feeling! Da Capo! Playoff!
That's just too much work to be grabbing mutes off the floor.
Presented for your approval, we have this new four mute holder from Hercules. It is designed to clamp to most music stands and microphone stands with a shaft diameter of 8-30mm (0.3”-1.2”). It allows you to keep all of your mutes within easy reach for fast changes. The holder includes four rings of varying diameters:
1 x 74mm (2.9”)
2 x 63mm (2.5”)
1 x 47.5mm (1.9”)
The rings have a soft foam coating to eliminate clanking. They rotate 270 degrees for a wide range of adjustment and for easy travel. One ring has a removable accessory tray. You may find some of the rings useful for holding your Starbucks cup.
Hercules' ad copy says that this device holds most cornet, trumpet, trombone and French horn mutes. I'm not so sure. Most trombone and French horn mutes are really too large for a stable fit. Your mileage may vary. Think of this stand as being primarily for trumpet. It is indeed quite a useful product for any trumpeter. Load capacity is 5 kg (11lbs). Folded size is 100x250mm (4x10”). Imported.
