This is a large bore tenor trombone designed for Enzo Turriziani, Principal Trombone of the Vienna Philharmonic.  Built in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, USA, this is a trombone that's ready for business right out of the box: the hand slide action is absolutely flawless.  The design is thoughtful to the smallest detail, including choice of metals and bracing.  You can tell it's not just a new rotor on an old design, but a truly original project whose results are remarkable.

The Harmonic Pillar system of the 4047ET trombone is a prime feature.  It helps tailor the response to your exact liking. What is a Harmonic Pillar?  It's a pair of bronze and zinc weighted bolts, either of which attach to a threaded fitting near the rotor.  Choosing one or the other absolutely affects how the horn plays.  When you arrive upon the right setting, your trombone is friend, not foe.  Little darker, this screw, little brighter, this screw, try it on the back, try both, now none.

Compared to the similar Bousfield model 4147IB, this trombone has a wider hand slide crook, a silver leadpipe, and is otherwise mostly constructed of all yellow brass with very distinct bracing.  The nickel tuning slide bracing looks more like non-ferrous stainless steel than nickel, one never knows... but stability and projection will be your forte here.  It's really genius.

I like the reverse F-slide idea.  Though the F-loop doesn't taper like a main tuning slide does, I think projection is helped by adding more weight to the slide itself, not just adding a light slide to a weighted horn.  Something about where the mass lies between the overlapping parts...

Originally developed for the Edwards T396-A trombone, the patented Harmonic Pillar system allowed musicians to acoustically tune their instrument for the first time. A singular version of that revolutionary tool is now available from Getzen on the all new 4047ET Custom Reserve. The 4047ET comes standard with two different pillars; a hard and a soft alloy. In essence, giving trombonists the power to choose between three different trombone setups. The hard pillar, the soft pillar, or no pillar at all. Regardless of which is selected, players will immediately notice a dramatic effect on the feel, response, and resonance of the trombone, allowing them to dial in the 4047ET to meet their performance needs.

The 4047ET utilizes several, sophisticated bracing concepts within the bell section. Most noticeable is the Getzen "DS" double edge brace system. This system eliminates the tension inherent within traditional bracing.  This and the Asymmetrical Bracing system was first developed for the 4047DS. Asymmetrical Bracing incorporates both nickel silver and yellow brass alloys to create a less invasive bracing setup. Together, the bracing systems combine to free both the F attachment and bell from the diminished resonance and responsiveness typical of modern day trombone bracing designs.

The 4047ET Custom Reserve is available in a Getzen exclusive fiberglass shell case. The case features adjustable interior padding and backpack straps. It is one of the smallest large bore, tenor trombone cases on the market today providing more protection than a traditional gig bag while remaining lightweight.
