diameter - Deep - Funnel-shaped.
- RIM CHARACTERISTICS: Width 7.5 mm.
- Medium sharp inner edge - Well-rounded outer edge
- THROAT BORE: 8.3 mm.
- Model PT-36 produces the depth and
volume of sound required by today's symphony orchestras. The
relatively narrow rim provides remarkable flexibility for a
mouthpiece of this size. This is a very popular mouthpiece.

- Model PT-48 is a funnel-shaped
mouthpiece which produces a full orchestral sound. It is recommended
for players with strong embouchures and is designed especially for
use with larger bore CC and BBb tubas.

- Flatter rim with sharp inner edge
- THROAT BORE: 8.3 mm.
- Model PT-50 is the largest
funnel-shaped style in the current line. The sharp inner rim aids
articulation and tonal clarity in this well-above-average cup
volume. This model provides huge dynamic range and fast response. It
aids low register playing while still providing a good upper range.
It is recommended for advanced players who prefer a truly large
mouthpiece.

Very round cushion
- THROAT BORE: 7.8 mm.
- Model PT-64 provides a lively and
exciting sound with a clear core and excellent projection. It also
allows great flexibility and a remarkable tone color for the CC
tuba. It is recommended especially for the F and Eb tubas, giving
great power and a commanding nature for solo performance with large
accompanying ensembles, or for use in executing the high-range
orchestral literature. This is one of the most popular tuba
mouthpieces today.

depth - Very round
- RIM: 8.5 mm. - Rounded with well
defined inner contact point
- THROAT BORE: 7.8 mm.
- Model PT-65 is similar to the
PT-64, on which it is based. The PT-65 provides a strong center and
great accuracy in all ranges just as the PT-64 does, but with a
different tonal nature. The center is clear and dominating yet dark
in character. The response, the accuracy, the flexibility, the
tonal nature of this new model accommodates modern large bore
instruments and demanding contemporary literature.

Fairly sharp inner edge - Moderately rounded rim
- THROAT BORE: 8.1 mm.
- Model PT-72 is a large mouthpiece
for the F or Eb tuba. The sound has considerable weight combined
with the richness and clarity associated with the German concept. It
is also recommended for intermediate level students of the BBb and
CC tubas.

Well-rounded inner and outer edges
- THROAT BORE: 8 mm.
- Model PT-84 provides a powerful,
projecting sound. It is very flexible, has a good upper range, and
gives a very quick response for a mouthpiece of this size,
particularly in the low range. This is a very popular mouthpiece,
highly recommended for the Eb tuba.

- Model PT-88 was primarily intended
as a special applications mouthpiece for low register playing.
However, it has found considerable acceptance for use on
medium-large and large bore CC tubas. It serves very well on any BBb
tuba, providing a very full and strong tone. It is recommended for
advanced players.

Yamaha version of the Schilke
69C4, slightly larger backbore and rounder rim. Feels bigger than the 69C4,
and somewhat less stable and secure up high, but the low range is
more open for very low notes, low F, pedal C, etc. Feels brighter
than the 69C4, like it's more open and I can blow through it more.
Works well on some F tubas too. Silver plate. |

This shgape goes back to a 19th century design, and has more metal
at the bottom of the cup to improve efficiency and projection, and
