Kanstul
| Zig Kanstul is one of the
best-known brass instrument makers, but he's usually been
doing it for other people. He spent years running Olds,
King, Benge, and CG Conn factories. In 1981 he started Kanstul Musical
Instruments in Anaheim, California, and has been making professional brass
instruments, including very fine trumpets, since then. We'll be stocking
the most popular models here. Unless noted otherwise,
Kanstul trumpets are sold without case. Kanstul has a huge line
of trumpets, far more than we could ever stock. We're happy to order
anything you'd like, and they'll build you a custom trumpet of your choice
in 4-6 weeks. Tip: Most Kanstul trumpets come with brass valve
guides, which many players like for durability and tone. However, if
you prefer quieter valve action, we can add a set of nylon valve guides at
no extra charge. Please ask. |

With the Bach plant in disarray for
most of 2007, Kanstul decided to make a new trumpet that really captured
the sound of the Bach 37. With help from Charlie Davis, he seems
to have done it. It features a weighted receiver, .460" bore, #25
mouthpiece, #37 one-piece bell, silver plate finish, brass valve guides.
Includes Protec Extreme case. |

Like Bach 37LW, feels slightly lighter
and faster responding, good legit horn, .460" bore, 4 7/8" No. 37 thin
brass bell, No. 25 mouthpipe. We have one with a slightly
weightier .020" brass bell, rather than the standard .017", which gives
it a bit broader tone, and makes it less shrill at louder volumes.

NEW Xeno Artist
YTR-9335VS |
New Allen Vizzutti model is a variation of the New York Artist
model Bb trumpet. In silver plate, with hard case.
Says Yamaha: Although similar to the
groundbreaking YTR-9335NYS New York Artist Model trumpet, the
new horn features a number of specialized design features,
including brass valve stems and grey finger-button pearls. In
addition, the third valve slide stop screw includes a solid
screw head, which improves the instruments overall feel and
response. Similarities to the YTR-9445CHS Chicago Artist Model
trumpet include placement of the first valve slide brace, and
third valve slide.
"Bold and beautiful, easy blowing, rich harmonic structure, open
high register, seamlessly soars through all styles of music; the
best Bb I have ever played, is here," says Allen Vizzutti,
International Trumpet Soloist.
The YTR-9335VS was designed to make high-register playing on a
classical trumpet design more efficient. Historically, classical
trumpet designs tighten up or lose their intonation when played
in the extreme high range, which hovers above the usual range of
most classical compositions.
"This instrument offers the best of both worlds classical
trumpet tone, and stability in the lower and middle registers,"
says Kurt Witt, Wind Instrument Marketing Manager. "It also
enables a very efficient and responsive upper register, similar
to the feel of the popular Yamaha jazz trumpets." |

NEW YTR-8340EM |
New Eric Miyashiro model is a stepped bore trumpet similar to
the Bobby Shew model, with medium bore valves and large valve
slides. Slightly larger bell gives a warmer sound with
better center, so say some. In lacquer with double gig
bag. |

Bobby Shew
|
New model has .445" bore, reverse tuning slide, lightweight
one-piece large throat bell. It's a zippy horn, lets you get all
over and around on this trumpet. It is very lightweight and easy
to play which is nice on those long club gigs. This is the
Bobby Shew model. Interestingly, this trumpet has a
following with classical players, despite the smaller bore.
It's a very versatile horn. Usually in stock in lacquer.
Apparently Bobby Shew doesn't like the silver finish version as
much, so we'll go with his preference.

Xeno
Artist New York Bb
YTR-9335NYS |
The model YTR-9335NYS was developed with many world
renowned trumpeters in New York along with the trumpet design
guru Bob Malone. This new model has generated a lot of buzz in
the trumpet world as being one of the best Bb trumpets ever
made.
This horn is hand assembled at Yamaha's custom brass/pro shop
facility. Developed by Bob Malone and Robert Sullivan of the
Cleveland Symphony. This horn features many
of the characteristics of the rest of the Artist Series Line of
horns. The combination of the variable thickness wall bell, french
bead rim, MB2 Malone leadpipe (which Bob has refined since he developed
it during his
years in Los Angeles) and the superior craftsmanship that the Yamaha Company
is known for really makes this horn stands out from the rest.
Perfect for an all around Bb trumpet, great for Jazz, commercial
and classical playing.

Xeno Artist Chicago Bb
YTR-9335CHS |
Yamaha's top of the line, YTR-9335CHS,
was designed with John Hagstrom, trumpeter in the Chicago
Symphony. He was tired of having a different blow switching back
and forth between Bb and C trumpets. With trumpet guru, Bob
Malone, Yamaha designed a custom built trumpet that eliminated
this awkward feel when switching back and forth. The Chicago Bb
has a MB1 Malone leadpipe, a side seam variable thickness bell
flare and has a medium large bore. It is a perfect match with
the YTR-9445CHS Artist custom C trumpet. |
