New S.E. Shires Pro Select Trombones

Now in stock: New U.S. made trombone line from the S.E. Shires Company. Known as the Shires Pro Select series, this series features two symphonic tenor trombones, each with two bell choices, and a bass trombone. These are made entirely in the S.E. Shires Hopedale, MA shop, but have limited options, and are not compatible with the Shires Artist Custom line that has been available since the founding of the S.E. Shires Company. Here are some specs:

Large bore tenor with rotary valve, red or yellow brass bell $2,995
Large bore tenor with axial valve, wide handslide, gold or yellow brass bell $3,295
Bass trombone with inline rotary valves, gold brass bell $3,995

One threaded leadpipe is included with each instrument. Leadpipe threads will match the Artist Custom line, so customers may buy additional leadpipes as accessories.

The bell/slide fittings and removable bell mounts do not match the Artist Custom line, but are compatible within the Pro Select line. Bells are removable for ease of valve maintenance, but Shires will ship only complete instruments in the combinations listed above.

Cronkhite Two-Piece Trombone Travel Cases

Based on a design by Dr. Terry S. Cravens, Professor of Trombone, University of Southern California Never get hassled at the airport again! Carry your horn on any airplane with ease. Splits into two parts to facilitate storage in overhead compartments. Here is what Glenn says about his new cases: "My trombone travel case has a very simple system for separating and reconnecting the two parts. The only place you're likely to do this is at an airport. If you are separating them just to walk on an airplane, you can reattach the case before you put them in the overhead. The cases are strongest when attached. The double wood in the slide case is a good bumper between your horn and whatever is next to it... You may never have to take the cases apart, as they look smaller when attached than a standard case. However, just knowing that you can, in the event that you have to, may take some of the fear out of flying with your horn."
