Moosewood
| We have recently acquired a fine collection of Moosewood mouthpieces.
These come to us through Thomas Greer in Arizona. All of the Moosewood
mouthpieces are hand crafted the old fashioned way - a few at a time. The A
& C model cups are designed specifically for Kruspe and other large throat
Horns (a great piece for Hoyer 6800 and 7800 series).
Rims have standard Giardinelli threads. Tom also makes a series of Dell'osa cup copies which are on special order
only.
Here's a list of what we stock at all times; these are his most popular
sizes. |

Jim Patterson
Custom Two-Piece French Horn Mouthpieces
|
These mouthpieces are made
locally by French horn craftsman Jim Patterson. He based the line on
the old Giardinelli New York mouthpieces, but Patterson's have a
slightly slimmer outer shape for improved articulation. Rims are 24K
gold plated and the cups are silver plated. They are terrific
mouthpieces. Threadings fit standard Giardinelli threads. Jim's
mouthpiece machinist is really good. After the initial run of
mouthpieces, Jim spoke to him about variations in the mouthpieces.
Jim ended up having to play a few notes on each piece while the
machinist listened, in order to show him the differences. The
machinist replied, "Well, I can't measure the difference, but I can
hear
it." He found out how to increase his accuracy, and after that, all
mouthpieces of each size were found to be perfectly identical. Now
that's some nice machining. |

This is a Geyer style cup. The cool thing about this
mouthpiece is uses a constant taper from rim to receiver end. This
means drill size starts at about 4 drill and ends at about an 11.
Very centered clear sound. Great for chamber work |
