Alexander 19 bass trumpet in
C/Bb |
The Alexander model 19 is the model that set the
standard for orchestral bass trumpets. Many other brands have used it as
a design for their own instruments. It is a true bass trumpet, not a
glorified marching trombone. The sound is beautiful and dark. Built in
the key of C with 4 rotary valves, nickel silver slides, a bore of .472"
and a 6.3" bell. The main tuning slide is built with an intonation
trigger standard from Alexander. Bb slides can be added upon request, or
they will build the instrument in Bb. This is the same instrument played
by Michael Mulcahy of the Chicago Symphony. If you want to hear what one
sounds like in the hands of a master, pick up his bass trumpet excerpt
CD here. Available in yellow or gold brass,
lacquered. By special order, 3 month delivery.

Bb Bass Trumpet |
Bb rotary valve bass trumpet from the maker Lidl in the Czech
Republic. It is a decent playing instrument that would be good for
doublers and players looking to be introduced into the world of bass
trumpet; an good instrument that won't break the bank. Features 3 rotary
valves and is available in yellow brass. This trumpet is not in the same
league as the Alexander, but bass trumpet is an instrument rarely called
for and when you do have to dust it off and take it to the gig, this
instrument works just fine. Also, works quite well for jazz soloing and
other eclectic musical outlets. Takes a small shank trombone mouthpiece,
a Lidl 12E is included, as is a custom Glenn Cronkhite bass trumpet gig
bag. Often in stock, call for availability.

Eb Contra Alto Trumpet |
Low Eb
rotary valve contra alto trumpet, handmade in the Czech
Republic, yellow brass construction, nickel trim, comes
with hard case and Lidl trumpet mouthpiece. Bell has
nickel silver rim garland. Though designed for a trumpet
sized mouthpiece, this horn has a tenor trombone shank
mouthpiece receiver and works well with 11C sized pieces
and smaller. It does include a trumpet sized mouthpiece
with a slightly larger shank. Plays very well and even
in the registers and is a blast to play. A very rare
instrument, occasionally used in the orchestra. By
special order.
